EYFS
Our Early Years provision follows the Development Matters curriculum, supporting children to learn and grow at their own pace. Learning is carefully planned around short, focused adult-led group times, where key skills are introduced and developed. Children then apply and deepen their learning independently during free-flow play, both indoors and outdoors. This balance helps children build confidence, independence and a love of learning through meaningful, play-based experiences.
Across the year, our Early Years children explore six carefully planned topics. These topics provide a stimulating framework for learning and are chosen to reflect children’s interests, seasonal events and key themes. Each topic supports progress across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage, helping children to make meaningful connections and develop their knowledge and skills through engaging, play‑based experiences.
In Early Years, we follow the White Rose Maths scheme to support the development of early mathematical understanding through practical, hands‑on learning. Phonics is taught using the Wollescote Letters and Sounds framework, which helps children develop strong listening, speaking and early reading and writing skills. Both approaches are delivered through engaging activities that are matched to children’s developmental stages and integrated into play‑based learning.
