Pupil Premium Grant

The Pupil Premium Grant is allocated to schools for children of statutory school age from low-income families who are known to be eligible for free school meals (FSM) in both mainstream and non-mainstream settings.

It also applies to children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months and to children whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces.

Pupil premium allocation include pupils eligible for FSM at any point in the last six years.

Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium Grant as they wish. ’It is for schools to decide how the pupil premium, allocated to schools is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility.’

The school is accountable for how it spends its pupil premium grant and is required to publish information to demonstrate how money has been used and the impact that the funding has made.
